BNHA/MHA Valentines Dating Sim is a visual novel game developed by indie developer BnHa Extra Love to Give. As the name suggests, it is a simulation game that takes place in the universe of the popular anime series, My Hero Academia (Boku no Hero Academia). Here, you will play as a student of UA High School. You will have the chance to interact with and pursue a romantic relationship with the boys of Class 1-A. However, the game only follows the three main characters from the show.
Meet the three heroes
As noted, the game brings the player to UA High School as a transfer student. You can design your character and even choose to play as either male or female. The game begins with you waking up and preparing for your first day in class. Upon entering the classroom, you will meet with the three main characters, Izuku Midoriya, Katsuki Bakugo, and Shoto Todoroki. Along the way, some of the well-known characters will also make their appearance, including the homeroom teacher, Shota Aizawa—also known as Eraserhead.
BNHA/MHA Valentines Dating Sim does not play out like your usual dating sim. Here, players cannot choose a character with whom they want to pursue a romantic relationship. Instead, you will interact with the three main heroes all the time. Who you end up with depends on your decisions. If anything, the game is very much a visual novel, as it is mostly narrations of how your day in the class goes. There will be times where you will have to choose your responses, and these will decide how your story goes.
The program only has six endings available. This makes it extremely limited, as one of the pleasures of most visual novels is unavailable. However, having a few endings makes it easier for you to end up with the character that you want.
Otome game through and through
At the core, BNHA/MHA Valentines Dating Sim is an otome visual novel. The three love options available in the game fall into the typical otome games archetypes. Midoriya is open and easy to get along with the character. Meanwhile, Todoriki is the recluse who hides his true feelings. Finally, Bakugo is your typical bad boy.
Although you can play as a male character, the game is actually specifically made for women. Moreover, as the heroes are in high school, they'll attract more attention from high school girls. However, this does not mean that BNHA/MHA Valentines Dating Sim is only for this demographic. If you are a fan of the anime series or enjoy playing dating sims, this game should be right up your alley, regardless of age or gender.
Players should note that BNHA/MHA Valentines Dating Sim is only a fan-made game. It only uses My Hero Academia as its source material. There are no canon-endings or story elements related to the actual show. However, the game art resembles the show a lot. Moreover, the author managed to capture the setting in the series. How the characters interact is also faithful to the series.
